PATAGONIE ANDINE CENTRALE ET LA PAMPA<\/b><\/p>\n

Que le temps passe vite\u00a0!!!
\nVoil\u00e0 d\u00e9j\u00e0 plus de 11 mois que nous sommes en route et notre voyage arrive gentiment \u00e0 son terme.
\nLe 04 avril, l’Azala\u00ef et Michel embarquent \u00e0 Montevideo en Uruguay pour amorcer le retour en Europe qui va durer environ un mois.
\nSylke, quant \u00e0 elle,\u00a0va rentrer en avion, car elle reprend le travail le 1er<\/sup> avril.<\/p>\n

En attendant, nous allons dans cet article vous faire d\u00e9couvrir quelques joyaux de la Patagonie<\/strong> Andine Centrale<\/strong>, comme \u00a0le Parc National chilien “Torres Del Paine”<\/b>,\u00a0 ainsi que le parc argentin “Los Glaciares”<\/b> avec le glacier \u00ab\u00a0Perito Moreno\u00a0<\/b>\u00bb et le massif du \u00ab\u00a0Fitzroy<\/b>\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Central Andine Patagonia and Pampa
\n<\/i><\/b><\/span>Doesn\u2019t a year sound like a really long time? But we all know that time flies and I can tell you, now that we are close to the end of it, it starts to feel like a \u201cnormal holiday\u201d\u2026<\/span>
\n\u00a0Only 2 more weeks and I will be back to work on April 1st<\/sup> (not a joke \ud83d\ude42 ). Michel and the Azala\u00ef will take the boat on April 4th<\/sup> in Montevideo (Uruguay) and will arrive in Hamburg a little less than a Month later (depending on weather conditions during the Atlantic crossing). <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Anyway, between January and now we have visited another few great places, this time in the Central Andes and the Pampa of Patagonia. Have a look at this new article for the national parks \u201cTorres del Paine<\/b>\u201d and \u201cLos Glaciares<\/b>\u201d with the \u201cPerito Moreno<\/b>\u201d glacier and the Fitzroy<\/b> massif, as well as ancient Cave Paintings, <\/b>a Petrified Forest<\/b> and Argentinians Atlantic coast<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Depuis Ushuaia, nous remontons jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Puerto Natales<\/b>.
\nDe l\u00e0, nous nous dirigeons vers l\u2019entr\u00e9e du Parc National Torres del Paine<\/b>.
\nLes \u00ab\u00a0Torres del Paine\u00a0\u00bb, <\/b>trois tours de granit qui ont donn\u00e9 leur nom au parc sont <\/b>apparues il y a 12 millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es, lorsqu\u2019une poche de magma s\u2019est incrust\u00e9e sous la cro\u00fbte de roche s\u00e9dimentaire.
\nEn se refroidissant tr\u00e8s lentement, le magma s\u2019est transform\u00e9 en granit.
\nAvec le temps, les glaciers ont \u00e9rod\u00e9 la roche s\u00e9dimentaire plus tendre et ont mis \u00e0 jour ces tours de granit que l\u2019on peut admirer aujourd\u2019hui.
\nLa roche s\u00e9dimentaire de couleur noire contraste admirablement avec le granit de couleur claire.
\nLe parc, fond\u00e9 en 1959 est l\u2019un des parcs les plus fr\u00e9quent\u00e9s d’Am\u00e9rique du Sud avec plus de 150’000 visiteurs annuellement.<\/p>\n

From Ushuaia, where we had embarked on our Antarctica trip, we are now going back north and one last time cross the border to Chili to return to Puerto Natales<\/b> from where we visit the nearby situated famous National Park \u201cTorres del Paine\u201d<\/b>.
\nWith more than 150\u2019000 visitors per year, Torres del Paine is one of the most visited national parks in South America. We arrive at the end of the high season and the relatively large number of people we see here is definitely different to the rather quite atmosphere of the majority of locations we have visited during the year. It is still not unpleasant but certainly remembers us of Europe.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

The distinct shape and colour of\u00a0the Torres del Paine\u00a0massif is created through a mix of sedimentary mudstone and granite stone. Its origin goes back 12mio years, where a magma flow created a pocked close to the surface. The cooling process of such underground pockets can take up to millions of years and allows the material to crystallise to granite. Then over time glaciers ground down the surface material and created this impressive massif.<\/span> <\/i><\/p>\n

Sur la route qui nous rapproche du d\u00e9part de la randonn\u00e9e qui nous permettra de nous rendre au pied des trois tours, nous rencontrons de nombreux \u00e9meus se pavanant dans les champs.

Ce matin, nous nous levons aux aurores, afin de profiter d\u2019une belle lumi\u00e8re sur les tours.
\nAlors que nous sommes en route pour les 3h30 de marche n\u00e9cessaires pour y arriver, le soleil se l\u00e8ve sur les massifs environnants.<\/p>\n

Today, we will climb up to the base of the Torres. We are super lucky with the weather. Apparently it can take weeks to get a sunny day. To profit from the morning light we start the hike at sunrise, which turns out to be a very wise decision since on our way down temperatures rise easily above 30\u00b0C and we cross many read faced backpackers that still have a lot of height to gain before reaching Refugio Chileno that serves as base camp for the hike up to the T<\/em>orres.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Nous aurions bien aim\u00e9 y passer la nuit pour \u00eatre au lever de soleil aux tours mais \u00e0 cette saison, impossible d\u2019y trouver une place libre sans r\u00e9server des semaines \u00e0 l\u2019avance.<\/p>\n

A partir de l\u00e0, le chemin grimpe \u00e0 travers un pierrier, et apr\u00e8s cet ultime effort, nous atteignons le but de notre randonn\u00e9e.
\nLes tours se dressent, majestueuses, en se d\u00e9coupant dans un ciel sans nuages.<\/p>\n

Nous y restons deux bonnes heures, dans une atmosph\u00e8re agr\u00e9ablement r\u00e9chauff\u00e9e par les rayons du soleil avant d\u2019entreprendre la descente qui, par le m\u00eame chemin, va nous ramener au fond de la vall\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s une nuit de repos, nous nous d\u00e9pla\u00e7ons de quelques kilom\u00e8tres dans le parc pour y effectuer une autre randonn\u00e9e dans les alentours du glacier Grey.
\nCe glacier fait partie de l\u2019\u00e9norme champ de glace patagonique sud (il existe un autre grand champ de glace plus au nord) de 13’000 km2<\/sup> pour 350 km de long.<\/p>\n

Next target in the park is the Grey glacier and lake. The glacier represents one of the 13 \u201cfingers\u201d of the southern Patagonian ice fields with 13\u2019000km2 <\/sup>and 350km length. <\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ce soir-l\u00e0, le soleil nous fait cadeau d\u2019un lampion avant d\u2019aller\u00a0nous coucher.
\nIn the evening the park offers us a spendid sunset.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Les vents forts \u00e9tant omnipr\u00e9sents dans cette r\u00e9gion du globe, les arbres ont tendance \u00e0 se d\u00e9velopper sur un seul c\u00f4t\u00e9, ce qui donne une bonne id\u00e9e de la direction d\u2019o\u00f9 il souffle la majorit\u00e9 du temps.<\/p>\n

En ce matin du 15 f\u00e9vrier, alors que le soleil brille et que la temp\u00e9rature est de 15\u00b0C, nous entamons la randonn\u00e9e de 11km qui va nous amener au \u00ab\u00a0Refugio Grey\u00a0\u00bb.
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

The following day, we start our hike to the Grey glacier and the <\/i>\u201c<\/i>Refugio Grey<\/i><\/b>\u201d where we will spend the night.<\/i><\/span>
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

En 2011, un touriste mal avis\u00e9 a allum\u00e9 un feu pour une quelconque raison et qui a eu pour cons\u00e9quence l\u2019embrasement et la destruction de 10% de la flore du Parc National \u00ab\u00a0Torres del Paine\u00a0\u00bb.<\/strong>
\nLes traces en sont encore parfaitement visibles malgr\u00e9 la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation qui reprend p\u00e9niblement vie.<\/p>\n

In 2011 a tourist campfire got out of controll and with the dry climate here 10% of the park surface was destroyed very quickly. <\/i><\/span>Today the sad results are still clearly visible and nature is only slowly recovering.

En se rapprochant, les fragments de glaces deviennent de plus en plus nombreux et prennent l’apparence de petits nuages dans un ciel laiteux.

\nThe closer we get to the glacier the more ice pieces float in the water. The lake is greyish from small rock particles in suspension which is called \u201cglacier milk\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Arriv\u00e9s au refuge, nous nous rendons au mirador Grey d\u2019o\u00f9 nous pouvons jouir d\u2019une admirable vue sur le glacer du m\u00eame nom.<\/p>\n

From the final view point \u00ab\u00a0mirador Gry\u00a0\u00bb close to\u00a0the \u201crefugio\u201d, we finally have the full view of the glacier.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Nous passons une nuit au refuge et le lendemain matin, nous retournons en direction du \u00ab\u00a0Lago Pehoe\u00a0<\/b>\u00bb que nous traversons sur toute sa longueur \u00e0 bord d\u2019un catamaran avant de retrouver notre Azala\u00ef pour la d\u00e9couverte suivante.<\/p>\n

The next morning we return vie lake \u00ab\u00a0Pehoe\u00a0\u00bb with its intense turquoise colour.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Nous quittons maintenant le Parc National Torres del Paine<\/b> et aussi le Chili <\/b>pour rejoindre l\u2019Argentine<\/b>.
\nNous traversons la pampa avant d\u2019atteindre notre premi\u00e8re destination, El Calafate<\/b>.<\/p>\n

To reach our next destination \u201cEl Calafate<\/b>\u201d inside the National Park \u201cLos Glaciares<\/b>\u201d, we drive through a part of Argentina\u2019s huge \u00ab\u00a0Pampa\u00a0\u00bb. Roughly 400km wide and 1500km long this flat and arid landscape covers almost all of Argentineans Patagonia. Due to its rough climate it is scarcely inhabited and almost exclusively used for sheep.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Shdows are incredibley sharp with the intense early morning sun of Argentians Pampa:<\/span><\/em>

El Calafate<\/b> est totalement vou\u00e9e au tourisme et ne vit qu\u2019\u00e0 travers lui durant la haute saison.
\nLe reste de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, c\u2019est une ville morte.<\/p>\n

La principale raison de la venue des nombreux touristes dans la r\u00e9gion est la pr\u00e9sence assez proche du Parc National \u00ab\u00a0Los Glaciares<\/b>\u00a0\u00bb et son glacier vedette, le Perito Moreno<\/b>.
\nCe glacier fait aussi partie, comme le glacier Grey<\/b> de l\u2019\u00e9norme champ de glace patagonique sud.
\nPerito Moreno<\/b>, d\u2019une surface de 257km2<\/sup> pour une largeur de 4km est le glacier qui avance le plus vite de tous les glaciers connus avec quelques 2 m\u00e8tres par jour. Cette grande vitesse, g\u00e9n\u00e8re sans cesse des chutes de morceaux de glace qui plongent dans le lac avec un fracas de tonnerre.<\/p>\n

El Calafate<\/i><\/b><\/span> is a small touristy town that functions as departure point for the famous \u201cPerito Moreno<\/b> Glacier<\/b>\u201d. Outside the short season the town shuts down. <\/span>
\nAlthough we have seen many glaciers in Antarctica, Perito Moreno was still worth visiting for us. Unlike glaciers in Europe or Antarctica, this one sits in an area where plants and even trees are present\u00a0 (surprising how both can survive next to each other). In addition, with roughly 2m\/day it is the fastest moving glacier on earth and thus has a high calving rate. During our visit we actually do see some big pieces breaking off the glacier wall but are not quick enough to take photos. Anyway, it is an impressive sight when a huge piece of ice drops into the lake and produces an immense wave<\/span>!<\/i><\/p>\n

D\u2019El Calafate<\/b>, nous nous rendons maintenant un peu plus au nord et quittons les abords du\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0Lago Argentino\u00a0\u00bb<\/b> pour rejoindre les rives du \u00ab\u00a0Lago Viedma\u00a0\u00bb<\/b> et de l\u00e0 le village de \u00ab\u00a0El Chalt\u00e9n\u00a0\u00bb.<\/b><\/p>\n

From here we continue our trip to \u201cLago Vidma\u201d and \u201cEl Chalt\u00e9n\u201d.

El Chalt\u00e9n<\/b>, village cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1975 pour accueillir les nombreux touristes int\u00e9ress\u00e9s cette fois par les pointes dress\u00e9es au ciel du\u00a0 \u00ab\u00a0Cerro<\/b> Fitz Roy\u00a0\u00bb<\/b> avec ses 3405 m\u00e8tres et du \u00ab\u00a0Cerro<\/b> Torre\u00a0\u00bb <\/b>3102 m\u00e8tres.
\nCes formations rocheuses ont la m\u00eame origine que celles des Torres del Paine<\/b>\u00a0 et pr\u00e9sentent un spectacle assez similaire.<\/p>\n

De loin d\u00e9j\u00e0, nous pouvons apercevoir ce massif montagneux qui aujourd\u2019hui \u00e9merge des nuages.<\/p>\n

El Chalt\u00e9n<\/i><\/b> is also part of \u201cLos Glaciares<\/b>\u201d National Park and almost exclusively serves as base for visits of the remarkable \u201cFitz Roy<\/b>\u201d massif (3405m) and the immense glacier field behind it.
\nFor our stay here, we have planned two day trips. One to the base of the \u201cFitz Roy\u201d and one to the base of the \u201cTorre\u201d.
\nAfter the flat and dry Pampa we enjoy the first views of the massif while approaching \u201cEl Chalten\u201d. As colour and shape suggest, it went through a similar creation process as \u201cTorres del Paine\u201d.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Les possibilit\u00e9s d\u2019approche sont toutefois plus nombreuses et vari\u00e9es.
\nNous attendons 2 jours \u00e0 El Chalt\u00e9n<\/b> que les conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9o s\u2019am\u00e9liorent afin de profiter d\u2019un ciel bleu pour faire notre randonn\u00e9e au Fitz Roy<\/b>.
\nNous prenons un bus qui va nous mener une dizaine de kilom\u00e8tres plus loin, \u00e0 un point nomm\u00e9 El Pilar<\/b>, o\u00f9 commence un chemin qui revient \u00e0 El Chalt\u00e9n<\/b> en passant par la \u00ab\u00a0Laguna de Los Tres\u00a0\u00bb<\/b> apr\u00e8s 22 kilom\u00e8tres de marche et 750 m\u00e8tres de d\u00e9nivel\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Divers points de vue le long du chemin nous donnent d\u00e9j\u00e0 de belles images sur ce pic et ses glaciers.<\/p>\n

Again we are lucky and only have to wait 2 days for the perfect hiking weather. Apparently also here it can take weeks to\u00a0see a cloudless day.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

En chemin, les torrents descendant du glacier nous offrent une eau parfaitement potable.
\nLes responsables du parc font tout particuli\u00e8rement attention \u00e0 ce que cela ne soit pas affect\u00e9 par les nombreux touristes de passage en \u00e9quipant plusieurs endroits de toilettes et en mettant des panneaux d\u2019information sur le comportement \u00e0 tenir pour ne pas la souiller.<\/p>\n

Our backpack is rather light since the water in the park in all rivers and lakes is drinkable! It is frequently reviewed and upon arrival in the Park all tourists are reminded to help maintain\u00a0its quality.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s 3 heures de marche, nous atteignons enfin la lagune et le pied du Fitz Roy<\/b>.
\n
\nAfter 3 hours 11km and 750m climb we reach the Fitz Roy glacier lake. The air is crystal clear, the sky intense blue and the panorama is breath taking<\/span>:<\/i><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s cette belle journ\u00e9e, nous d\u00e9cidons de faire une journ\u00e9e de repos avant d\u2019entreprendre notre prochaine \u00e9tape, la randonn\u00e9e \u00e0 la \u00ab\u00a0Laguna Torre\u00a0\u00bb<\/b> qui offre la meilleure vue sur la montagne du m\u00eame nom.<\/p>\n

Encore une journ\u00e9e \u00e0 22 kilom\u00e8tres \u00e0 se mettre dans les jambes avec toutefois un d\u00e9nivel\u00e9 de seulement 500 m\u00e8tres.
\nLe chemin est tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able, \u00e0 part quelques tron\u00e7ons pierreux.
\nLorsque nous arrivons \u00e0 la lagune, le ciel est voil\u00e9 mais on voit une lente diminution de la couche nuageuse.
\nLe temps de pique-niquer et d\u2019admirer le paysage suffit pour que la \u00ab\u00a0Torre\u00a0<\/strong>\u00bb se d\u00e9coupe dans un ciel devenu bleu.<\/p>\n

The second hike to \u201cLaguna Torre\u201d is as pleasant as the first one. Excellent weather, beautiful views, 22 km and only 500m climb<\/span>.<\/i><\/p>\n

Nous sommes maintenant le 26 f\u00e9vrier et il est temps de continuer \u00e0 progresser vers le nord.
\nA peine avons nous quitt\u00e9 El Chalt\u00e9n<\/b> que nous faisons une rencontre insolite. Un voilier,\u00a0toutes voiles hiss\u00e9es et bien gonfl\u00e9es progresse sur la route dans la m\u00eame direction que nous. Apr\u00e8s les avoir d\u00e9pass\u00e9s, nous nous arr\u00eatons et passons un moment \u00e0 discuter avec l\u2019\u00e9quipage.
\nCe sont deux Allemands qui ont modifi\u00e9 un \u00ab\u00a0Laser\u00a0\u00bb<\/b> sud-am\u00e9ricain en lui ajoutant 3 roues dont celle de l\u2019arri\u00e8re est directement connect\u00e9e \u00e0 une barre franche.
\nLeur intention est de rallier Buenos-Aires par la route.

The 26th of Feb. we leave \u201cEl Chalten\u201d to continue our road up north. Shortly after we overtake a boat. Yes! a sail boat with sails up und moving along the road pushed by the wind. After we had processed what we just saw, we turn the car around to chat with the two sailors that just stopped the boat to change the fore sail. The two Germans have modified an Argentinean \u201cLaser\u201d into a \u201cLand Sailor\u201d and are aiming to reach Buenos Aires by road. Nous atteignons bient\u00f4t notre but de visite suivant qui se nomme \u00ab\u00a0Cueva de las Manos<\/b>\u00a0\u00bb.

Back on the road, we soon reach the \u201cCueva de las Manos<\/b>\u201d situated in a beautiful canyon where we decide to spend the night.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

C\u2019est un site que les chasseurs fr\u00e9quentaient il y a d\u00e9j\u00e0 9000 ans.
\nCe qui fait la particularit\u00e9 de cet endroit, est que les diff\u00e9rentes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations d\u2019habitants y ont peint sur la roche des mains en n\u00e9gatif.
\nIls pr\u00e9paraient une lotion color\u00e9e au moyen de colorants issus de terre ou de v\u00e9g\u00e9taux qu\u2019ils m\u00e9langeaient avec de l\u2019eau puis aspergeaient l\u2019une de leur main \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un os creux servant de paille.
\nLes mains gauches sont repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es \u00e0 raison de 70% contre les droites \u00e0 30%, ce qui d\u00e9montre qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, comme aujourd\u2019hui, les droitiers \u00e9taient majoritaires.<\/p>\n

Already 9000 years ago this canyon was used by human beings as seasonal home and for hunting. Different generations have not only left wall paintings of animals and hunting scenes but also \u201cnegative\u201d hands.
\nExperts have deducted that a fine paste was prepared from coloured soil and then blown over the hand onto the cave wall using a thin hollow bone.
\nSize and shape of the hands show that men, women and children participated in what is now interpreted as a group ceremony. Interestingly the designs represent 70% of left hands and 30% of right hands, which shows already\u00a0a similar split to today.<\/i><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Nous continuons ensuite en direction de Sarmiento<\/b> et de l\u00e0, bifurquons vers le site du \u00ab\u00a0Bosque petrificado<\/b>\u00a0\u00bb (la for\u00eat p\u00e9trifi\u00e9e).
\nIl y a 70 millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es, cette r\u00e9gion comptait de nombreux cours d\u2019eau et\u00a0 lacs et de ce fait \u00e9tait couverte d\u2019une v\u00e9g\u00e9tation dense. C\u2019\u00e9tait un habitat privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 pour les grands animaux tels les dinosaures.
\nAujourd\u2019hui, de nombreux troncs d\u2019arbres p\u00e9trifi\u00e9s jonchent le sol dans un paysage lunaire.<\/p>\n

We now turn east to cross over to the Argentinean Atlantic coast. Not far from the caves in the area of Sarmiento<\/b> we visit a petrified forest in Parque National de \u201cBosque Petrificado\u201d. 70 million years old petrified Auracaria trees from the time where thick forests and dinosaurs lived in this area, lie here in a lunatic landscape. Hard to imagine that this once was a tropical forest.

Nous continuons notre travers\u00e9e de l\u2019Argentine d\u2019ouest en est pour arriver \u00e0 la P\u00e9ninsule Vald\u00e9s<\/b>.
\nNous avons donc rejoint l\u2019oc\u00e9an Atlantique et passons une premi\u00e8re nuit \u00e0 la \u00ab\u00a0Punta Ninfas<\/b>\u00a0\u00bb qui fait face \u00e0 la pointe sud de la p\u00e9ninsule.
\nEndroit sauvage et des plus tranquilles.<\/p>\n

We reach the Atlantic coast at \u201cPeninsula Valdes<\/b>\u201d a famous nature reserve. Before entering the reserve we spend a very quiet afternoon and night at \u201cPunta Ninfas<\/b>\u201d next to a Lighthouse and very close to a 50 m cliff from where we observe marine birds. After a little discussion we park the car for the night 20 m away from the cliff. Michel had first parked it less than 10m away\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Nous quittons ce matin ce havre de tranquillit\u00e9 et nous rendons \u00e0 la p\u00e9ninsule pour en faire le circuit nord qui permet de visiter trois points encore fr\u00e9quent\u00e9s par des animaux marins.
\nLa P\u00e9ninsule Vald\u00e9s<\/strong> est tr\u00e8s connue pour les baleines Franches Australes qui viennent se reproduire dans les deux baies entre les mois de juin et d\u00e9cembre.
\nNous sommes bien s\u00fbr beaucoup trop tard et il nous faut nous contenter de quelques rares pingouins de Magellan, d\u2019une colonie de femelles \u00e9l\u00e9phants de mer et de trois colonies de lions de mer.<\/p>\n

Peninsula Valdes is particularly famous for the more than 1000 Franca Australes wales that come between June and December to the two bays north and south from the peninsula. We are obviously completely out of season but we still see three big sea lion colonies with over 100 cute babies, a sea elephant colony unfortunately without a big nosed male and a few late Magelan Pinguins.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Nous avons aussi le loisir d\u2019y voir \u00e9voluer quelques animaux terrestres tel le tatou.

\nEt aussi le Cui, cochon d’Inde local qui se mange d’ailleurs couramment dans ces r\u00e9gions.<\/p>\n

There are also plenty of \u201cCuy\u201d on the island (part of the guineaig family, I think). The rather dry climate doesn\u2019t seem to bother them:<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Avant de quitter Vald\u00e9s<\/strong>, nous faisons un petit tour \u00e0 l\u2019\u00eele aux oiseaux qui se trouve sur l\u2019isthme qui m\u00e8ne \u00e0 la p\u00e9ninsule.
\nCette \u00eele a inspir\u00e9 Antoine de St Exup\u00e9ry<\/strong> dans son premier dessin du livre ” Le Petit Prince<\/strong>“.
\nOn pouvait penser qu\u2019il avait dessin\u00e9 un chapeau mais en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 pour lui, c\u2019\u00e9tait un serpent qui avait aval\u00e9 un \u00e9l\u00e9phant.
\nL\u2019endroit est particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 des oiseaux migrateurs.
\nIls y sont nombreux \u00e0 se d\u00e9lecter de l\u2019abondante nourriture pr\u00e9sente dans ces lieux appel\u00e9s \u00ab\u00a0Cuello de botella\u00a0\u00bb (goulot de bouteille).<\/p>\n

Next to Valdes lies the small island \u201cIslas de los Pajaros\u201d. It is not only an important <\/span><\/i>stop-over\u00a0spot for migratory birds, but you should also recognise the shape of it since it was used in a worldwide known little French book that many have read during their French classes in school:\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

You obviously immediately saw\u00a0that the book I am talking about is \u201cLe Petit Prince<\/strong>\u201d <\/i>J<\/i><\/span> and that Antoine de St Exup\u00e9ry has copied the shape of this island to draw a hat, or better a Boa that has just swallowed an elephant. This is true! He apparently loved Patagonia and has seen the island during one of his flights over this area! He also created the first airline for postal transport here.<\/span> <\/i><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s la P\u00e9ninsule Vald\u00e9s,<\/strong> nous continuons \u00e0 longer la c\u00f4te est de l\u2019Argentine et faisons un arr\u00eat \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0El Balneario del Condor<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb.
\nLa particularit\u00e9 ici, hormis d\u2019\u00eatre un village tr\u00e8s tranquille, bordant une grande plage, est que la falaise situ\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 sud de la plage abrite la plus grande colonie de perroquets barranquero ou perroquet des ravins<\/strong> connue au monde.
\nChaque ann\u00e9e, entre les mois de septembre et janvier, 35’000 couples de perroquets viennent donner naissance \u00e0 leur prog\u00e9niture r\u00e9partis sur les 12km de long de la falaise.
\nAujourd\u2019hui, \u00e0 mi-mars, seuls quelques centaines de perroquets sont rest\u00e9s l\u00e0, juste pour que les rares touristes de passage puissent en faire quelques photos.<\/p>\n

We continue our way up the Atlantic coast where uncountable sea resorts are aligned along endless beaches. Every 300 to 400 km we stop to spend the afternoon and the night at a different\u00a0beache. All of them are all beautiful and we enjoy the tranquil mix of driving and time at the beach that bring us slowly closer to Buenos Aires.
\nAt least two of the beach resorts deserve special mention. One which is called \u201cMar de Las Pampas<\/b>\u201d, which is at the moment the trendiest resort of all Argentina. A big pine forest grows here up to the sand dunes and all houses and even small shopping centres are build beautifully around or under the big pine trees. The buildings are rather small and mostly made from natural materials. Ecology is The word here \u00a0including recycling and living in line with nature. We absolutely love this place!!!
\nUnfortunately no photos since a big thunderstorm was happening the morning we left and this is also when we had planned to take the photos<\/i>.
\nThe other beach resort\u00a0worth mentioning is \u201cEl Balneario del Condor<\/strong>\u201d, where along a 12 km cliff at the shore the world biggest \u201cBurrowing Parrot\u201d colony is situated. Around 35\u2019000 couples bread here every year in little nests carved into the soft lime stone of the cliff. We arrive outside beading season and only a few 100 parrots are still here. <\/i><\/span>The noise is still impressive though.<\/span> <\/i><\/p>\n

L\u2019endroit nous plait bien et comme il nous reste quelques petits jours avant de devoir rejoindre Buenos Aires, nous en profitons pour nous installer ici pour deux jours.
\nLa m\u00e9t\u00e9o \u00e9tant tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able, un petit jogging de mise en forme au lever du soleil, sur une plage d\u00e9serte, s\u2019impose.<\/p>\n

Every morning before breakfast we go for a run at the beach. What a great way to start the day. <\/i>We will definitely miss this!<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Nous sommes aujourd\u2019hui le 12 mars et il ne nous reste plus que 1400 km avant de rejoindre Buenos Aires.
\nNous allons tranquillement longer la c\u00f4te afin d\u2019y \u00eatre le dimanche 16 mars car pour terminer ce p\u00e9riple, nous avons d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d\u2019affiner nos connaissances de l\u2019espagnol en suivant un cours\u00a0 particulier intensif\u00a0d\u2019une semaine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today is March 18. And by now we are in Buenos Aires. We stay in a posh hotel for a change and are taking one week Spanish advanced course to consolidate what we have learned over the last months. Four hours of intensive course every afternoon and homework during the mornings. Not much time to visit the city during the day, but we do see some of the night live and the great restaurants!\u00a0 <\/i><\/span>
